Xmas Decorating

Luke is very enthusiastic about Christmas. He gets such enjoyment out of Christmas lights, snowmen, Santa Claus & Penguins. Now he know a whole new set of words.

2nd Birthday

Luke had a GREAT 2nd Birthday! He was so excited about everything...family, phone calls, video conferences, gifts, candles, balloons, campfire and all the love that he received! Thank you to EVERYONE for making his birthday so special.

Circus

The elephants were the highlight of the circus for all of us. We went down on the floor during intermission and got to see them super close. Luke wanted to get down and play with them. Instead of the real ride we let him ride the blow up version... poor kid. Maybe when we know that he will actually remember the moment we will pay for the real deal.

Halloween

He seemed to really be into ghost, so we went with it. He is a Cowboy Ghost. At first we didn't know if trick-or-treating was going to happen. Luke wasn't to sure about putting on his costume. However, once he understood that if he wanted candy he had to put it on, he was a little more willing. He has been wanting candy ever since. He thinks he likes gum, which he just swallows, so we told him that tootsie rolls are gum-there chewy and ok to swallow.

Wild Animal

Is that Ace in the kennel? No, that is our other wild animal! He is a good kid but when his "toddler" side is in full force sometimes I wish we could crate him. The other pictures is of his blue face after eating his first lollipop. YUMMY!! Check out new video.

Back to Blogging

Ok so it has been a ridiculously long time since our last blog. Our internet service was so slow and frustrating I couldn't stand to be online, then our computer went to the shop and now we are back. We have had a fun month. We went to see Austin and Sophie and their adorable pug "Jacoby. We enjoyed the State Fair, horse races and the UT game. Luke was a little under the weather while we were there but he is bouncing back. My mom says kids seem to get smarter after being sick, I think she is right! He has expanded his vocabulary so much. However, you still have to have some idea of what he is saying to understand. It is hard to believe that he will be 2 next month!!!! I will post pics tomorrow and we will be blogging again so put us back into your surfing routine.

Bicycle

We got Luke a bicycle seat this weekend so we could take him out. Of course, he loves it. We rode to eat dinner one night and breakfast the next day. It's really cool that we have things to do so close that we can ride our bikes! The other pic is of Luke with his magnet coloring board. He has been very creative lately and turning in to a great artist. Today he drew a picture on the magnet drawer and pointed to it and said "Ace". I suppose it was a pic of Ace, at least Luke thought so. Also, check out the new video. I look TOTALLY ridiculous, but it is all about Luke.

Building

Labor Day Weekend

We enjoyed our little mini vacation by going to Pedernales Falls and the Austin Zoo. The Pedernales State Park was more beautiful than we expected, a definite must see for visitors. We hiked for hours. Poor little Ace injured one of his paws, he is fine now, but we had to carry him and Luke the last part of the trip. It was a workout but sooo worth it. We also went to the Austin Zoo, it isn't really that elaborate but Luke LOVED it. We got to feed the goats and sheep. We also saw tigers, bears, lions, monkey and a few other farm like animals.

Animal

We haven't been up to much lately, just going day by day. We have been enjoying Luke making animal noises. If you tell him an animal he tries to make it's noise. His best imitations are of monkeys, dogs, and tigers!

Water

We broke down and bought the orange pool.

Hangin' Out

Photo is of Luke very carefully parking his cars on the tupperware lid. He is a very hard worker. He still is not talking yet. He is interested in knowing what everything is though. He points to a picture or object, makes his duhhn sound and expects you to tell him what it is. When he ask for something with his noises we try to repeat what he wants with words. He will get it eventually. He has said a few random things that you can catch if you are paying attention (but not consistantly) like bubble and turtle.

Blues On The Green

We have been enjoying the summer Austin activities, like Blues on the Green. At one point Luke thought the music was to loud. This weekend we are planning to go to the Zilker Hillside Musical Theater to see Beauty and the Beast. The big deal this week... Luke pooped in the potty and pee peed in the potty. It may just be a fluke, we aren't really trying, but it was exciting none the less! He seems interested so we are just dabbling in the potty training business.

Hot!

Wow, it has been soooo hot here. I think that every day has hit the 100 mark. Needless to say we only go out early in the day and at the end of the day when it is only 95, haha. This weekend we went to this water fountain area near the Palmer Center. There were a lot of kids there enjoying the water spouts that went off like geysers. To see a video of the fountain look in the link section of the blog, below our videos. It is not our video but it is neat. It was filmed at night but we went during the day. words

Just a quick post to let everyone know Luke's new words. "Boat" and "moon". We went to a small lake town festival for the 4th of July and we saw lots of boats. He says boa (without the t) then he makes a vroom vroom noise. Cute. He also now looks up in the night sky and points to the moon and says it. Pics to follow on another day..

Kayla

Movement Class

John has been teaching martial arts at a gymnastics school to some of the kids in the summer camp program. As an added benefit they let Luke and him participate in a movement class geared towards Luke's age group. From what I hear it sounds like lots of fun. They get to climb, jump and crawl in a safe environment. They also do movement type songs like "Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes" and "Wheels on the Bus"... both songs we have been singing at home so it is nice that it is a little familiar to him. Luke has been more interested in other kids so this is also a good time for him to explore them as well. Best of all Luke gets to spend some cool time with Dad:)

Austin

Music

Today we got out the musical instruments and had a jam session! Luke loves to beat the drum. I was singer and guitarist. After watching me Luke gave singing a whirl in his microphone, it was funny!!!! Neither of us will be hitting the stage anytime soon. Words: He has now started saying Ace very clearly. He can also say mom, like a good boy:) Today I heard him say " mom, dad" and when I looked over he was pointing to a picture of John and I on the file cabinet. It was touching and of course he got lots of praises.

We are back!!!!

I know it has been a very long while since our last blog. We have been on the go for the past month.
Yvonne and Tom came to visit for a week. We had fun doing local things like Zilker, Bats and hiking trails.
Austin graduated from Austin College. We are so proud of him, way to go Aubidaubi. Matt and Michelle came to visit for a week. We enjoyed lots of water fun such as Schlitterbahn, Lake Travis and Port Aransas. Kayla graduated from Austin High. Top 5%- she's the smart one....Way to go Kay babe. (P.S. LOVE the comments, they make me laugh)

Yard Sale

We had a huge success at our yard sale this past weekend! We sold about 3/4 of our junk and took the rest to
Goodwill. Yard Sales are a great place to people watch. They do the most bizarre things. I recommend everyone at least have 1 yard sale in their life, you get great stories and laughs.
